OUR TEAM

Shawna Narayan completed her Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is currently a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine student at UBC. After her first year at UBC, she learned how important mentorship and peer-support was in the transition to post-secondary education – so she founded Empower The Future. In her free time, Shawna enjoys watching Friends, drinking tea, and advocating for mental health causes.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Ashley graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, and now works full-time for the federal government and part-time in the insurance industry. With a passion for empowering youth and those who come from marginalized backgrounds, Ashley aims to help others overcome various kinds of barriers through her volunteer work with Empower The Future. In her spare time, she likes to work out, read, and watch any TV show or movie that involves time and/or interdimensional travel!

ASHLEY PRASAD

ADMINISTRATION DIRECTOR

Josh Zivny graduated from the Justice Institute of British Columbia and aspires to become a career firefighter. He also completed the Red Seal trade program in Carpentry at North Island College. He hopes to share his experience with others to help them make informed decisions about post-secondary school. In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, watching The Office, and playing Pokemon.

INTERNAL RELATIONS DIRECTOR

Adit is a 2nd year Pharmacology student at the University of British Columbia. He is passionate about helping youth and encouraging growth. He also loves being a part of a close team that helps guide and provide information to the next generation of student leaders. Adit enjoys spending time with friends whether its playing ping pong, board games or different sports like basketball.

Mohul is a 1st year student at Simon Fraser University studying business and economics.He volunteers to empower the youth to broaden the horizon of his networking skills and learn from a prestigious organization. In Mohul’s free time, he loves to play basketball, football, read about stocks or hang out with friends.

Kiran is currently a 4th-year psychology student at the University of British Columbia. She decided to volunteer with Empower The Future to improve on her leadership skills. In her free time, Kiran enjoys watching Netflix and hanging out with friends.

Amelia Choy is a Biology major from the University of British Columbia with work experience in the local community, post-secondary, and healthcare environment. She is excited to be a part of this team because of her passion for mentoring other students. In my her spare time, she enjoy nature photography and listening to music.

ETF VOLUNTEER

Niyoosha is a Physiology major at the University of British Columbia. She enjoys being involved and giving back to her community, especially in the areas of mentorship and professional growth. In Niyoosha's free time, you can find her playing volleyball, or taking a nap.
