WOMEN IN STEM
Learn about STEM programs and why women should get involved in STEM careers
The Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Project includes workshops and mentorship activities with presentations, resource packages, and workbooks to help encourage inner-city female students in pursuing STEM fields. The workshops cover 5 core topics around STEM fields and higher education: dealing with financial stress; learning about post-secondary education; entering the workforce; volunteering and its benefits; and taking care of yourself. The workshop is filled with discussions such as question and answer periods and activities such as guessing the estimated cost for post-secondary school in STEM fields. Another key portion of the project is to do outreach work to discuss gender equality and to recognize notable female scientists.
