FUTURE LEADERS MENTORSHIP

Connecting high school students and post-secondary students together

The Future Leaders 12-week program supports youth in Grades 10 to 12 by providing youth with positive role models through one-on-one mentorship, developing skills and sharing knowledge through tailored workshops, and offering the opportunity to contribute to their community while gaining work experience in a volunteer placement.

From June 13 to September 2, high school mentees will communicate virtually on a weekly basis with their mentor, complete a volunteer placement, and attend three in-person workshops. Mentees are welcome to share applications for scholarships or post-secondary admission for Mentors to review and provide feedback.

There are only 20 spots! All youth in Metro Vancouver (Surrey, Delta, Vancouver, Burnaby, Langley, Richmond, etc.) are invited to apply! However, spots will be prioritized for certain groups. See details in the application.

Applications are due by 11:59 PM on Friday, May 27th, 2022.

Why you should apply:

  • You will be connected with a positive mentor currently in post-secondary school so you can ask your burning questions about life after high school.

  • You will learn about university and college programs, apply for financial aid, manage your mental health, and develop skills to help you in post-secondary life.

  • You will be given $100 honoraria on completion of this program.

  • You will be given a reference letter describing your contributions to the community during your volunteer placement.

  • You will have the opportunity to apply for an exclusive $250 scholarship.

This program is made possible by Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, and the United Way of British Columbia.
